Bushidō Diary: Sickness is weakness

While I respect and believe in the theory of constant tuning of the body I need to point out that being in bed for four days is not a bad case of the flu. It's probably just a really bad cold. The flu needs to be constantly monitored and can have you out of action for 2 weeks. You'll know the flu when you get it because your temperature will skyrocket and there's a good chance you'll hallucinate. Everything will ache and you'll barely be able to stay awake. It's in no way fun.

While a healthy body and constant tuning is a good basis, an annual flu shot is also very helpful.

What you suggest could very well be true, as I did only take a guess as to what was making me sick, and there are more than 100 different viruses that could have given me the same symptoms.

Because I didn’t describe my symptoms I find it interesting that you can diagnose my situation as a cold :). I did actually have the symptoms of what you have described, temperature, body aching, exhaustion, only no hallucination and over a shorter period of time

However, because I was talking about the immune system, in response to your comment I will say that, due to the different strengths of individuals’ immune systems, the same virus can affect people differently.

The same virus could have affected you as you have described above, but may affect someone else with symptoms similar to nothing more than a cold.

In regard to being bed ridden for 4 and a half days. This for my system is very sick. Even when I am sick I will push myself to continue working or going about my day, but to be bed ridden is an extreme circumstance.

As far as the length of my illness, I was not 100% back to my normal health after 4 days, as symptoms persisted after, I was just able to get out and continue life again.

The best treatment in viral infection like flu is bed rest & drink fluids a lot.
